Azerbaijan defeat Kazakhstan in European qualifier
BAKU – The Azerbaijan national football team secured a narrow 3-2 home win over Kazakhstan in the 2012 European championship qualifier in Baku on Tuesday.
The first half ended with a narrow lead of Kazakhstan as Ostapenko scored the first goal in the 20th minute.
All three goals for Azerbaijan came in the second half.
Rauf Aliyev leveled the scoring in the 53rd minute and Mahir Shukurov put the team ahead in the 62nd minute after the penalty shoot. Azeri team`s Javadov scored the third goal for Azerbaijan.
Kazakhstan`s second goal came from Evstigneyev.
Azerbaijan lost 1-2 to Kazakhstan in the away match on June 3 in Astana.
