Russia, U.S. discuss Central Asian security
MOSCOW – Russian and U.S. senior officials discussed the security situation in Central Asia Thursday, the Russian Foreign Ministry was quoted by Xinhua as saying.
"The diplomats discussed the general situation in Central Asia, in particular, in the light of the Afghan factor. They paid special attention to the situation in Kyrgyzstan," the ministry's statement said.
U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert Blake was informed about Russia's efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the region.
Both sides also agreed to continue to compare notes on these topics.
