New appointment in Nabucco National Company Hungary
Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH appointed Gábor Bercsi as Managing Director of Nabucco National Company Hungary.
Nabucco reported on Thursday that Bercsi has extensive experience in the energy sector. His previous position was a managing director of Sinergy Energy Service in Budapest, which is a subsidiary of German Utility RWE.
Bercsi said that Nabucco project will bring more supply stability and many benefits to the economy of Hungary.
Nabucco project is currently fulfilling the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) in Hungary. Three of four environmental permits were granted in 2011 and the remaining permit is expected in the first quarter of 2012.
Nabucco gas pipeline is designed to transport gas from the Caspian region and Middle East to the European countries. The project's partners include the Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and the German RWE.
Gas which will be produced during the second stage of Shah Deniz field development is considered as the main source for Nabucco project.
Construction of the Nabucco project is planned to start in 2013 and the first supplies are scheduled for 2017. The total length of the pipeline is 3,900 kilometers and a maximum capacity of the pipeline will be 31 billion cubic meters per year.
