Socar not interested in purchase of Turkish gas firm
Socar Turkey Enerji is not interested in the purchase of a stake in Turkish gas distribution company Baskent Dogal Gaz, CEO of Socar Turkey Enerji Kenan Yavuz told Zaman newspaper on Monday.
Yavuz said the company may become interested in a tender on the purchase of a stake in another gas distribution company, IGDAS, in case it is announced.
Earlier Socar's joint petrochemical company obtained a license for wholesale of gas in Turkey's domestic market. The license was issued for 30 years by the group regulating Turkey's energy market.
Socar has reached an agreement with the Turkish side on purchase and further sale of gas in Turkey in the volume of 1.2 billion cubic meters per year. Most gas will be delivered to Petkim's petrochemical complex owned partially by Socar, and the remaining volume will be sold to consumers in the domestic market.
