TeliaSonera, the majority owner of Azerbaijan’s leading cellular operator Azercell, has been ranked in number 13 in the Global 100, a list of 100 most sustainable large cap companies in the world. The list was presented on Wednesday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
A press release issued by TeliaSonera said that the company was considered the best telecom operator in managing environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities.
“It shows us that we are on the right track, and that our commitment to work in a sustainable way has given results,” said Eija Pitkanen, head of corporate responsibility at TeliaSonera, in a press release.
The Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World was initiated by Corporate Knights Inc, with Innovest Strategic Value Advisors Inc, an international investment research firm, in 2005.
The 100 top sustainability performers are chosen from some 3,500 publicly-traded companies across the world. The annual Global 100 is presented annually at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
