Eurovillage to be launched in Baku

Eurovillage, a major social project featuring outdoor events including campaigns, concerts and programs, will be launched in the Azerbaijani capital Baku in the run-up to Eurovision 2012, the contest working group head told Trend news agency on Friday.

Adil Karimli said the Euroclub will also open in Baku. Various entertainment will be provided to reporters and participants with entry by invitation only.

Karimli said the locations of EuroVillage and Euroclub will be announced soon.

The final of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest is due on May 26, following two semifinals on May 22 and 24. 43 countries have applied to participate in the song contest.

Azerbaijani duo Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal (Ell/Nikki) with their pop-ballad "Running Scared" won the Eurovision contest last year in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The 57th Eurovision Song Contest will be held at the Baku Crystal Hall, which is under construction in the seaside park of Baku.
