Azerbaijan elected vice president of UNESCO committee

Azerbaijan is elected Vice President of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for non-material heritage protection.

The decision was taken at a session of the UNESCO Committee in Bali, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan quoted the Azerbaijani Permanent Representation to UNESCO as reporting on Tuesday.

Apart from Azerbaijan, three more countries - Iran, Madagascar and Morocco - were elected the Committee's Vice Presidents while Grenada was elected Chairman, and Spain was elected Rapporteur of the Committee. It is decided to hold the Committee's next session in Grenada.

Two non-governmental organizations of Azerbaijan - Azerbaijani carpet-weavers and the World of Music - received the recommendation for accreditation along with other non-governmental organizations from 27 countries. The NGOs will be accredited at the sidelines of the fourth session of the Assembly General of member states of the Convention for non-material heritage protection to be held next year.
