National musicians to join “Kavkaz Jazz 2016 ” festival

“Kavkaz Jazz” festival will be held in Tbilisi, Georgia from June 8 to 11.

Together with Georgian jazz musicians the festival will be attended by artists from Azerbaijan, the United States, Iran, Turkey, and many others, Azertac reports.

The festival stipulates a joint training program of famous American jazz saxophonist and teacher Jamie Ebersolda as well as a two-week educational program of the Tbilisi State Conservatory, scheduled for June 1-14.

Teachers of University of Loisville (USA) - musicians Michael Trace (saxophone) and Craig Wagner (guitar) will head the training.

In addition, round tables planned with the participation of music experts from Georgia, Azerbaijan, the United States and others.

Gala concert of the Jazz Festival will be held on June 11 at the fortress Rabati.

The festival is organized by NGO Art Bridge, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia and Tbilisi City Hall.

Partners of Kavkaz Jazz Festival 2016 are also Turkish Cultural Centre Yunus Emre, the Tbilisi State Conservatory. V. Sarajishvili, the Goethe Institute and the Iranian Embassy in Georgia.

“Kavkaz Jazz ” is a non-commercial youth jazz festival, in which young musicians from different countries take part. It's is a unique project and differs from other jazz festivals by being also educational.

First “Kavkaz Jazz” festival was held in 2010. The festival got high points from public and media.

The Mission of the festival is to encourage exchanges of experience between jazz musicians from Caucasus region and to give the jazz audience the opportunity to listen to new jazz talent of Caucasus.
