By Amina Nazarli
Azerbaijan is hosting another interesting event, as Latvian Days
run in the capital city from November 23 to December 12.
Being held under the slogan “Discover Latvia,” the event features
Latvian culture and national cuisine.
As part of the occasion a reception dedicated to the Independence Day of Latvia is scheduled for November 25.
Moreover, “ARAZ” supermarket networks operating in Baku will put Latvian products, which have long been popular in the world, but not yet exported to Azerbaijan, on display.
Latvian delegation will also visit Azerbaijan on November 25 to
hold Azerbaijani-Latvian business forum, organized by the AZPROMO
and Latvian Investment and Development Agency.
About 20 Latvian companies, operating in ICT, food production,
logistics, economy, medicine and pharmacy, tourism, education,
design and architecture, and the production of organic fertilizers
will attend the forum.
Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee reported that the turnover between the two states amounted at $7.1 million as of January -October of this year.
Latvia recognized Azerbaijan’s independence in 1992. The bilateral diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1994. The Azerbaijani embassy in Latvia began to function in 2005, and the Latvian embassy in Azerbaijan was opened a year later.
Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with Latvia within regional organizations, including the Union of the Baltic States. This cooperation is important to intensify the process of integration in the Baltic-Black Sea-Caspian region.
