A solo exhibition titled “Femina” of Azerbaijani artist Rahim Hashimov will take place at Baku’s Absheron gallery on December 2.

Organized by Arts Council Azerbaijan and supported by the Culture and Tourism Ministry the opening ceremony will start at 19:00.

The exhibition will last until January 10 at the address 11, Asaf Zeynally.

Hashimov works in the portrait genre, inspired by the paintings of famous artists such as Amedeo Modigliani, Gustav Klimt and Henri Matisse.

He, like all these artists is inspired by the beauty of women, portraying them with the inherent plasticity and grace.

“Each artist wants to convey something beautiful to people. Some do it through the landscape, others via still-life. What about me - I am drawing women. A woman is a beautiful creature, who is beautiful both externally and spiritually,” he said.

Until now, his art works have been featured in many exhibitions.

The artist said that it is an honor for him to open his solo exhibition.

Hashimov was born in Sumgayit city of Azerbaijan. He has been drawing since his childhood. Although he graduated from art school, his fate turned out differently. “I dreamed to be an artist, but became a doctor,” he said.

However, the medical school, residency in Ukraine, and 10-year experience in trauma surgeon at the emergency department at Sumgayit hospital did not stop him from creating beautiful paintings.
