Azerbaijani photographer Rufat Aliyev became a full member of the prestigious Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain.

27 year-old Rufat became the first Azerbaijani photographer to become a member of such a famous society.

The Royal Photographic Society was established in 1853 by the famous British photographer Roger Fenton. The society includes many outstanding photographers such as Martin Parr, Annie Leibovitz, and Sir David Attenborough.

The society highly appreciated Rufat’s works.

Rufat sent 13 photos to the Prince of Wales, (His majesty...Azerbaijan; His majesty...Karabakh Horse; His majesty...Lavash; Her majesty... Khanum; His majesty... YanarDag etc.) the names of which all begin with "His Majesty ..."

The Prince responded quickly, thanking Rufat and giving him his best wishes.

All photos by the national photographer were sent to Royal Photographic Society’s library in Fenton House.

Moreover, Rufat’s works have been included in the list of the 100 best photos of world renowned photographers, all of which will featured in the Royal Photographic society's International Exhibition.

The exhibition, which is considered the longest one in the world, will be held in October 2015 in the Old Truman Brewery in London, which is home to many art events.

The exhibition is also expected to tour in the UK.

Commenting on how he came into this profession, Rufat said, “I took photos since childhood, as it is our family profession, since my grandfather and then father were engaged in this profession.”

At 15, he graduated from a college and became a professional photographer. So far, he has worked with many political organizations and news agencies.

“Taking photos in different genres and for different customers, I began to realize that I was much more interested to work mainly with people, to shoot people ... I am keen on not only the process of shooting, but also the interaction with people and their reactions to what I am doing,” he said.
