Azerbaijan’s State Philharmonic Hall hosted a concert by the Italian ensemble "Le Div4's" on June 24.

The concert by the stunning quartet was one of European Games’ most anticipated performances, as they are, without exaggeration, one of the most popular vocal ensembles in the world today.

Le Div4s burst into the music scene in 2008 with the help of the great master of Italian music, Andrea Bocelli.

Since then, the ensemble performs solo at major venues in Italy, Germany, the UK, Singapore, and Greece among other countries. In addition, their albums are sold worldwide.

Denise, Isabella, Vittoria and Sofia are young singers who have already won several international operatic singing contests. The main goal of the ensemble is to present new concepts in singing. The professionalism and originality of their design distinguish them from other vocal ensembles. Mozart, Bellini, Verdi and Puccini's most known and touching pieces are revised for the four voices, but always with respect to the original scores.

Their repertoire also included popular Italian tunes and show tunes from various movie musicals.

Nino Rota, chief conductor of the Czech State Symphony Orchestra of Marcello Rota told Day.az that this is their first time in Baku, but they had heard a lot about the city before; they were totally fascinated by the Baku’s beauty. He also said that the troop is always ready to come here again. Rota said that they are especially happy because their concert is held during the first European games.

All of the tickets for the show were sold out, mainly to foreign guests visiting Azerbaijan for the Games. It appeared to be the first time many in the audience had gotten the opportunity to listen to the "Le Div4s"; they were truly amazed.

The musicians appeared on the stage together with the Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli after a brief delay.

The first performance was a piece from Georges Bizet's opera "Carmen," followed by the works of Georges Bizet, Luigi Denza, Nino Rota, Luciano Pavarotti, Edith Piaf and others. While members of the audience had heard many of the songs numerous times, it was a completely novel experience to hear the quartet’s interpretations. The artists improved on each song with an improvised solo performance.

The biggest surprise was an unexpected performance of the Azerbaijani folk song "Sari Gelin." The audience was shocked and delighted to hear an original LeDiv4s version of the classical song sung in the native Azerbaijani language.

Guests will surely remember this concert for quite some time. Baku is always happy to Le Div4s once again.
