Mugam concert fascinates Beijing

A grandiose musical evening devoted to Azerbaijan Republic Day - May 28 was held in Beijing, China.
The concert program which saw the performance of several famous
Azerbaijani honored artists mesmerized residents of Beijing.
As usual, Azerbaijan’s unique musical and poetic phenomenon -
Mugam, pleased the audience with its colorfulness.
They came to listen to Mugam in the performance of one of the most famous khanende (singer): Vusala Radjabova and Mugam trio: Elchin Hashimov (Tar folk instrument), Elnur Ahmadov (kamancha folk instrument) and Siyavush Kerimov (nagara).
Azerbaijani Mugham was created on the basis of historical and cultural traditions stretching centuries. It is one of Azerbaijan's most valuable cultural and spiritual tribute - Azerbaijan's greatest musical and poetic achievement.
Azerbaijan is proud of its national music. The country has been able to preserve this art during the hard times of the Soviet Union, when national art forms were out of favor. People gave their lives to save this art form. It was even sent into space as a worthy sample of musical creativity of the world civilization.
The audience warmly welcomed the performers, who presented beautiful samples of national music to the public.
A concert performed by Azerbaijani People’s Artist, Mansum Ibrahimov is scheduled for May 31.
Millions of Azerbaijanis living in Azerbaijan and across the world celebrate May 28, the establishment of the first independent and secular democratic state in the Islamic world - Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
Mammad Amin Rasulzade, the brightest and most prominent political figure during those times and ideological leader of the revolutionary nationalist movement in Azerbaijan, declared Azerbaijan's independence on May 28, 1918. It went down in the chronicles of Azerbaijan nation as a great and historic event and marked a glorious page in Azerbaijan's history. In its short period of existence - only 23 months, the ADR returned national consciousness to the Azerbaijani people.
