A grandiose classic music concert devoted to the 250th anniversary of Argentina’s Independence Day was held at Baku’s International Mugam Center on May 26.

The exciting event jointly organized by the Embassies of Argentina and Azerbaijan was aimed to strengthen cultural and diplomatic ties in between the two countries.

Argentine Ambassador, Carlos Dante Riva and his wife attended the ceremony.

The guests from different countries participated at the event. The hall was full of famous art figures, prominent officials, ambassadors and representatives of different diplomatic missions.

Opening the ceremony, the Argentinean ambassador thanked the Azerbaijani government for the conditions created to hold such a beautiful concert.

“The Argentine embassy was established in the country in 2013. It is the second time we celebrate Independence Day here,” he said.

Riva also touched upon the two countries relations, saying that the two sides have enjoyed good ties in many fields, adding he hope they would expand further.

The ambassador recalled an exhibition of some five famous Argentinean artists, who will soon represent their works for the first time in Baku. The exhibition will be held in the Baku’s Modern Art Museum in several months. He added that by the end of the year two books by outstanding Argentinean writers will be translated into Azerbaijani.

“We have many projects for the near future. We hope that the Azerbaijani government will help us in their implementation,” he said.

Nadir Huseynov, Azerbaijan’s deputy foreign minister, for his part, congratulated the ambassador and all Argentineans on their proud holiday. He noted that Azerbaijan will support them in further projects, in view of strengthening ties in between the two countries.

The grandiose concert performed by a piano duet (winner of the international music competition Ardzhento) Nazaket Rimazi and Elnara Keberlinskaya was warmly welcomed by the audience.

The compositions of two prominent Argentinean composers including Carlos Guastavino and Astor Piazzolla pleased the public, leading many to discover the beauty of Argentina's music. These two musicians revolutionized the traditional tango into a new style, incorporating jazz and classical music elements, thus becoming the founder of a new style of tango nuevo.

Such splendid compositions by Guastavino as "Gato", "Tres Romances Nuevos", "Seequi voco la paloma" and "La Rosay El Sauce as well as by Piazzolla Libertango", "Oblivion", "Fuga Y Misterio", "Milonga Del Angel", and "Adiós Nonino" mesmerized the guests with their beauty and emotion.

Vocalist Gulnaz Ismayilova also graced the concert with a stunning performance. The youngest performer of the evening, violinist Osman Eyyubov, the winner of many international competitions amazed guests with his confidence and talent.
