"Red Angel in Khojaly" play staged in Milan

The Teatro Filodramattici in Milan, Italy has premiered the play
“Angelo rosso a Khodjaly” (“Red Angel in Khojaly”) devoted to the
Khojaly genocide.
The play was prepared on the episodes of “Prisoners-of-war camp”
project by Vusala Mammadova
The play’s script is written by Sabuhi Mammadli and directed by
Nihad Isa. The play was performed by famous Italian actors.
Azerbaijani and Italian songs were used in the play that reflects
the drama of persons taken hostages in Khojaly.
Azay Guliyev, Chairman of the Council of State Support for NGOs,
MPs Bakhtiyar Aliyev and Azer Karimli, members of the Azerbaijani
and Turkish Diaspora in Milan, professors and teaching staff of the
universities, residents of the city, local media representatives
attended the premiere of the play.
In 1992, the town of Khojaly came under intense fire from the towns of Khankendi and Askeran already occupied by the Armenian armed forces. 613 civilians mostly women and children were killed in the massacre, and a total of 1,000 people were disabled. Eight families were exterminated, 25 children lost both parents, and 130 children lost one parent.
Moreover, 1,275 innocent people were taken hostage, the fate of 150 of them remains unknown. Many civilians were shot at close range, scalped or burned alive.
