"History of Cultural Day. Russia-Azerbaijan" project kicks off in Baku

The youth project titled “History of Cultural Day. Russia-Azerbaijan” kicked off at the Russian Information and Cultural Center (RICC) in Azerbaijan on December 12.

The opening ceremony was attended by two sides' officials including Valentin Denisov, Head of “Russian cooperation” office in Azerbaijan, Nazrin Adigezalzada, the International Department Head of the Azerbaijani State University of Culture and Arts (ASUCA) and Sadagat Aliyeva, Head of the Department of Cultural Studies in ASUCA.

During the ceremony, two university students Ulviya Huseynova and Gunel Aliyeva shared the results of their first research about the history of cooperation between the two countries with the audience. The research includes many interesting facts and useful samples of cultural enrichment between the two sides. These facts will definitely attract scientists involved in cultural studies.

During the event, a concert was also held. The guests listened to the compositions of Azerbaijani and Russian classics, opera arias and folk songs in the performances of students Rafaeal Aliyev, Narmin Gasimli, Zulfi Asadzada, Ilaha Salmnadzade, Nijat Mahiroglu, Bahruyz Kerimli and Fidan Khalilova.

“Today, we went on an amazing journey together with the teachers and students of the ASUCA. We intend to study history and geography of Azerbaijan-Russian festivals and meet with people who attended these events. Their memories about those days are very important for the young generation, which has decided to devote themselves to the art and creativity of their country,” Denisov underlined.

As part of the project, the exhibition titled “The Constitution of the Russian Federation” has opened in the RICC in Baku. The photo exhibition is devoted to the Constitution Day of Russia initiated back in 1993.

The first visitors of the historical exhibition were universities' teachers and students. The project includes many teachers and students of ASUCA.

During the year, the participants will study history of cultural cooperation between the two countries. They will also meet Azerbaijan and Russian influential art figures, participating in the Cultural Days.
