Poland marks Day of Azerbaijan

The exhibition titled “Polish traces in Azerbaijan” kicked off
in Lodz city of Poland, on December 3, as part of the Day of
Azerbaijan.
Teachers and students of Lodz universities attended the event.
Addressing the event, dean and professor of the faculty Professor
Tomasz Domański spoke about the Azerbaijan-Poland relations.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Poland Hasan Hasanov gave information on
the past and the present of Azerbaijan.
He spoke about the history, literature, culture, and latest achievements of the country. The ambassador noted that, the diplomatic relation between the two countries with its 540 year history is developing as a result of efforts by the presidents of the two countries Ilham Aliyev and Bronislaw Komorowski.
During the event, the ambassador answered the questions of the students and teachers.
A promotional film about Azerbaijan was screened during the opening ceremony. The event also featured “The Polish traces in Azerbaijan” exhibition.
Hasanov noted the important role of the Poles, once they played
in the development of many areas in Azerbaijan. The buildings in
Baku designed on the basis of the East and West architecture by
Polish architects are in the city's list of architectural
masterpieces.
The exhibition of buildings’ photos, constructed by Poles in
Azerbaijan attracted the attention of the participants.
Following the event, guests enjoyed delicious Azerbaijani national
dishes.
Poland recognized Azerbaijan's independence on December 27, 1991.
The diplomatic relations between the two countries were established
on February 21, 1992.
The Azerbaijani-Polish relations are at a strategic level. To expand the current relations with Poland, which is a member of NATO, European Union and other reputable international organizations, is of particular importance for Azerbaijan. Poland supports Azerbaijan in the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and standards of international law.
