The newly opened Carpet Museum in the capital Baku turned into a popular location hosting about 2,000 guests on September 27.

The Open Doors Night at the museum was dedicated to the international Tourism Day, celebrated in Baku with Open Doors Day in museums and concerts parks.

The guests of the Carpet Museum were acquainted with the new building and discovered some wealthy exhibits here.

The new building houses 13,300 exhibits and items, including carpets, thread-work samples, metal works, fabrics, clothing, ceramics, glasses, wooden and paper items, jewelry, books, and a unique collection of photographs.

Carpet waving is an Azerbaijani ancient tradition and it is no wonder that the first museum of carpets was opened in Azerbaijan back in 1967.

Establishment of the modern building of the museum reveals the attentions given to this national dignity.

Along with a valuable exhibition, the visitors also had a chance to enjoy a Jazz performance by Aysel Mammadova, watch short films by young Azerbaijani directors, a video-performance, as well as an exhibition of works by young artists Laman Yusifli and Mehriban Shamsadinskaya.

A master class on carpet weaving touched everyone's feelings.

Moreover, kids also enjoyed the national carpets, learning more about their ornaments. Guests were also mesmerized by the folk dances.

Moreover, all the day long, museums' enthusiasts were able to visit the state museums around the city and listen to folk, jazz and pop concerts. Mirjavad Jafarov and the "Ethno-Jazz" band made a concert in the Old City, Azad Shabanov and Sabina Babayeva performed at Fountain Square, while Arslan Novrasli, Farid Hasanov and vocal ensemble "Qaya" sing along the Philharmonic garden. The concert program included not only local, but also foreign songs.
