Azerbaijani film turns spotlight on in Indonesia

An Azerbaijani movie called "The Steppe Man" (Cholchu) has been awarded with Platinum award "For Best Direction" at the prestigious International Movie Award - 2014 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Some 265 movies from 30 countries have participated in competition in two categories "Platinum Awards" and "Gold Awards".

"The Steppe Man" has taken part in over 30 international film festivals and forums, and received a number of awards.

The film was already presented in Russia, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Czech Republic, India, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Estonia, Egypt, Georgia, Turkey, Bangladesh, Ukraine and others.

The story of Azerbaijan's film revolves around a steppe man living far from cities. His father introduces him to steppe life. After his father's death, he meets a young woman from a nearby village, and she transforms his life, leading him towards a big and unfamiliar world.

The film is Azerbaijan's official submission to the Best Foreign Language Film Award for the 2014 Academy Awards.

Vidadi Hasanov is the movie's scriptwriter. Rafig Guliyev, the director of photography, Rafig Nasirov and Ibrahim Khalil Aminov the production designers, Rauf Aliyev the composer, and Mushvig Hatamov and Azer Guliyev the producers.

The film stars are Bahruz Vagifoglu, Vidadi Hasanov, Javidan Mammadov, Salome Demuria, Vusal Mehraliyev and others.
