Personal exhibition of recognized French artist Bernard Buffet will be opened at Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku on September 26.

Forty-three works of the artist will be demonstrated at the exhibition. The catalog covering reproduction of Bernard Buffet works was published on the eve of the opening ceremony.

The author of the preface in the catalog is Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Aliyeva expressed her pleasure of bringing the works of Bernard Buffet to Baku and exhibiting at Heydar Aliyev Center projected by one of talented architectures of the world Zaha Hadid.

She noted: "I discovered Bernard Buffet and his works a few years ago. I fell in love with his portraits at that time. In my mind, the works of Buffet are rich of emotions and express his deep feelings. The darkest works of Buffet give positive energy. Simply, looking at the portraits takes me to happy world".

The exhibition at Heydar Aliyev Center will last until January 15, 2015.

Bernard Buffet was born in Paris on June 10, 1928. Trained at the National School of the Fine Arts, Buffet is known as the founder of an extraordinary style merging parlor art with modernism.

Major exhibitions of Buffet's works were held each year until his very death. His personal museum was established in Surugadaira, Japan, in 1973.

The center earlier hosted a number of exhibitions of local and foreign artists, including the photo exhibition of Henri Cartier-Bresson and the exhibition of sculptures by Tony Cragg.
