Shaki Theater festival wraps up

The first International Theater Festival held in Shaki wrapped
up on September 19.
Co-organized by Culture and Tourism Minister, Shaki Executive Power
and Azerbaijani Union of Theatrical Figures , the festival was held
for ten days beginning on September 10.
The closing ceremony was remembered with 100th year anniversary of outstanding People's Artist Lutfali Abdullayev. The opening ceremony of the monument was dedicated to the well-known humorist.
Addressing the ceremony, Head of Shaki Executive Power Elkhan Usubov noted that erection of the monument to the famous artist is a very significant event.
The artist's daughter, professor Xurshud Abdullayeva highlighted that this is an important day for her and thanked the President for holding such events.
Meanwhile, the guests put flowers in front of the monument. The
monument was made by Nadir Eminli.
The spectacular closing ceremony was held in the same day.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Deputy of the Culture and
Tourism Minister Adalat Valiyev spoke about the ten-day festival.
Stressing that the international festival was being held in
Azerbaijan for the first time, Valiyev talked about the Azerbaijani
theatres successes over the last few years.
He noted that the festival held within "Azerbaijani theater
2009-2019" is a great event not only for Shaki, but also for the
whole country.
"During the past ten days, many domestic and foreign theaters showed their best performances for theater and art lovers," the deputy said. "I think that this festival sets the basis for a long- lasting festival in this beautiful region of Azerbaijan. I congratulate all the theater lovers on this occasion."
The comedy "Who is guilty" spectacle by Abdurrahim bey Hagverdiyev was put on display in the presentation of Azerbaijan State Musical Theatre. The spectacle directed by Irada Gozalova was a nice addition to the festival. The comedy revolved around the fight between a man and devil. It was performed by well-known actors and actress such as Chingiz Ahmadov, Huseyn Alili, Gultac Alili and Elmeddin Dadashov.
At the end of the ceremony, the winners were awarded with diplomas by the Culture and Tourism Ministry and Shaki Executive Power for active participation in the festival.
Within the festival, the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theatre staged the "Vizier of Lankaran khanate" spectacle by Mirza Fatali Akhundov.
On September 16, the guests enjoyed the "The husband and wife"
musical comedy by great Uzeyir Hajibeyli, staged by Vagif
Asadov.
On the next day, two more spectacles were staged in the
international festival. The State Puppet Theatre delighted the
spectaculars, especially children, with "The cat with a bell" play
by Ahmad Oruj. The colored interesting puppet performance left no
one indifferent.
"Monsieur Jordan and DervishMastalishah" comedy by Mirza Fatali Akhindov was performed on September 18.
