Azerbaijani movie joins film festival in India

An Azerbaijani movie called "The Steppe Man" (Cholchu) is set to participate in the Indian Cine Film Festival-2014 in Lonavala on September 27.

This year the festival includes movies from 30 countries. The 54 best scripts were chosen from 147 entries.

"The Steppe Man" has already taken part in over 17 international film festivals and forums, and received a number of awards.

The story of Azerbaijan's film revolves around a steppe man living far from cities. His father introduces him to steppe life. After his father's death, he meets a young woman from a nearby village, and she transforms his life, leading him towards a big and unfamiliar world.

"The Steppe Man" is Azerbaijan's official submission for the Best Foreign Language Film Award category in the 2014 Academy Awards.

Vidadi Hasanov is the movie's scriptwriter. Rafig Guliyev, the director of photography, Rafig Nasirov and Ibrahim Khalil Aminov the production designers, Rauf Aliyev the composer, and Mushvig Hatamov and Azer Guliyev the producers.

The film stars Bahruz Vagifoglu, Vidadi Hasanov, Javidan Mammadov, Salome Demuria, Vusal Mehraliyev and others.

The ICFF-14 aim is to give momentum to the independent cinema. The festival's objective is to create a platform for the meeting, sharing and development of great cinematic ideas.

The festival along with international competitive films screenings also holds a film market and industry oriented master classes, discussions.

Indian Cine Film Festival has its roots almost a decade back in northern India. The festival was launched in Meerut and was concluded in with participation from almost 18 countries.
