By Amina Nazarli
Azerbaijan's famous full-length feature film "Nabat" by talented director Elchin Musaoglu will represent the country at 71st Venice International Film Festival in Italy.
The festival will run between August 27 and September 6.
The film was shot in 2014. It is dedicated to Karabakh war, which
resulted after Armenia's unjustified territorial claims against
Azerbaijan.
Elchin Musaoglu who has directed more than 50 documentary and feature films decided to make this film after being impressed by a true story told by one of his friend.
The story revolves around a village's residents who are forced to leave their homes because of an ongoing battle. But there is an old woman who refuses to leave her family members buried in the village.
In his interviews, the director said, in all conflicts, this is
the mothers who suffer the most.
"Paradise must be found beneath the mother's feet. I sincerely
believe that if the mothers were in charge, the world would be a
better place," Elchin Musaoglu , the winner of "The Best Foreign
Film" prize at the 42th Houston International Film Festival in
Texas in 2009 said.
The film will take part at "Horizons" ("Orizzonti") section which is the second important part after the main competition section of the festival. This section brings together new trend feature and documentary films.
Works of other 16 directors will also be screened during the event, where the authors of the best films will be awarded.
Venice International Film Festival is the oldest international
film festival, founded in 1932 on the initiative of Benito
Mussolini. The festival has been held annually on the island of
Lido since 1934.
The main section of the festival involves feature films which have
never been screened or taken part at any other festival.
