"Protecting leopards" summer camp-2 starts in Masalli city

"Protecting leopards!" ecological summer camp has kicked off in Masalli city in the framework of the "Protection of Caucasian Leopards" project.
The summer camp is supported by Azerbaijan Representation of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), International Dialogue for Environmental Action Public Association (IDEA), Heydar Aliyev Center and Education Ministry.
Thirty pupils from the secondary schools of mountain villages of Masalli, Jalilabad and Yardimli regions are taking part in the 3-day camp.
Addressing the opening of the summer camp, Sevinc Sarukhanova, the collaborator of Azerbaijan Representation of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), talked about the accomplished projects.
Ecologist of IDEA Public Association Nazaket Isayeva , for his part,informed about the implemented projects operating by the structure since 2011. She also underlined the importance of summer camp of the Caucasus Biodiversity Summit held on May 7 on the species of feline's family.
The first day of the second summer camp was remembered with a seminar held on "Protecting leopards!" and debate on "Man and Environment". Videos of leopards' lifestyle were demonstrated to pupils and the camp was continued with the music performances and entertainment around the campfire friendship.
The summer camp's main goal is to educate schoolchildren living near the habitats of Caucasian leopards about this unique species and encourage its protection.
A project aimed at protecting Caucasian leopards started by WWF in 2002. Activities in the field of leopards protection within the "Big Five" program, which was initiated by Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Leyla Aliyeva and covers the protection of five endangered species of fauna (bear, wolf, gazelle, eagle, leopard) in the Caucasus, is bearing fruit.
