“Seven Beauties” to be staged in California

Premiere of the ballet "Seven Beauties" by the prominent Azerbaijani composer Gara Garayev is expected to be held in California.
Co-organized by the Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry and
the General Consulate in Los Angeles, the premiere will be
conducted by Grossmont Symphony Orchestra.
The ballet will be performed by the San Diego Ensemble on October
11, Azerbaijan's General Consulate in Los Angeles said.
The first staging of the ballet was held in the Azerbaijan State
Academic Opera and Ballet Theater in Baku on November 7, 1952.
Gorgeous, bright, colorful ballet music became the key to happy and
long life of the work at stage.
"Seven Beauties" is an Azerbaijani ballet, composed by Gara Garayev
in 1947-48 to mark the 800th anniversary of the classical poet
Nizami Ganjavi. The libretto of the ballet belongs to Ismayil
Hidayetzade, Yuri Slonimsky and Sabit Rahman. It is based on motifs
of Nizami Ganjavi's "Seven beauties" poem, written in 1197.
