World-famous violinist Itzhak Perlman to give concert in Baku

World-famous violinist Itzhak Perlman will give a concert at Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku on April 28.

"The winner of 15 Grammy and four Emmy awards, American musician of Jewish origin will perform for Baku audience. He would be accompanied by Rohan De Silva, a Sri Lankan pianist," the center reported.

Guests of the classic music night will enjoy immortal works by great composers Ludwig van Beethoven, Richard Strauss and Claude Debussy.

Perlman was born in 1945 in Israel. He studied at the Academy of Music in Tel Aviv, and then at the Juilliard School, one of the largest art schools in the US.

Winning the Leventritt Competition, a prestigious contest of academic musicians in the US, in 1964 greatly influenced his future career.

Since that time, the virtuoso violinist has toured throughout the world with famous orchestras and solo concerts, performing at such prestigious halls as Kennedy Center in the US and for several times at the White House.

Moreover, Perlman fascinates the audience with his mastership as a conductor, directing at various times, the New York Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the symphony orchestras of Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, St. Louis, Dallas, and Houston.

Perlman was awarded the Medal of Freedom in 1986 and the National Medal of Arts in 2000 in the United States. He also was prized an honorary doctorate and the medal of the Juilliard School on the occasion of its 100th anniversary in 2005.
