Milan hosts presentation of book on Azerbaijani poetry

A book highlighting Azerbaijan`s modern poetry has been presented at the Palazzo Marino Palace in Milan, Italy, AzerTag state news agency reported.

Titled "Contemporary Poetry of Azerbaijan", the book includes poems by renowned Azerbaijani poets, including Mammad Araz and Fikrat Qoja.

The book was published by Pagine Publishing House at the initiative of chairman of the "Azeri" Azerbaijani Cultural Association in Italy Mais Nuriyev, professor at the Milan Conservatory Davide Gualtieri and professor Giampiero Bellingeri.

Addressing the event, Gualtieri recalled his visit to Azerbaijan, praising religious tolerance in the country as exemplary.

He also touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Gualtieri recited a poem on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by Azerbaijani poet Azhdar Ol in Italian language.

The event featured performance of Azerbaijani mugham.

The participants were also briefed on Azerbaijan`s national musical instruments, including balaban, kamancha and tar.

Among the participants were chairman of the Milan City Council Basilio Rizzo, representative of public affairs and health department Giuseppe Landonio, and employee of the Azerbaijani Embassy to Italy Ayten Abushova.

Its presentation in Baku will be held on Thursday.
