A world championship on an intellectual game "Khamsa" was held in Baku-based Kempinski Hotel Badamdar on December 6-7.

The event, organized by Azerbaijan's Youth and Sports Ministry and Youth' Intellectual Development Center, brought together about 16 teams representing Latvia, Germany, Israel, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Moldavia, Estonia, and Azerbaijan.

The Mirage team from Russia won the tournament. The Shtandart team from Belarus took the second place and the third place went to the combined team from Ukraine. Azerbaijan's best Sbornaya team took the 6th place at the tournament.

Faig Huseynov, author and producer of the Khamsa television project said holding of the championship has become possible thanks to the great interest in the game outside Azerbaijan, where the game are loved and are played for the past three years.

"We plan to hold World Championship every year and look forward to broader participation," he said.

Earlier, Baku hosted first championship on Khamsa, where Azerbaijan's teams "Slon v Udave", "Jazz", and "M4A1", who finished first, second, and third, received the right to represent Azerbaijan at the world championship.

Khamsa is based on the number "five", so each team consists of five players one of whom is the team's captain. The entire game consists of 5 rounds. 5 themes are played out in the first three rounds, with 5 questions asked on each theme. Four teams - the "yellow", "red", "blue" and "green" one- usually take part in the game.

Khamsa, which has become a national intellectual game, has attracted the attention of people of all ages and interests, because this game is accessible to all people who want to gain more knowledge and are not afraid to demonstrate their intelligence.
