Exhibition of young Russian artists opens in Baku

Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony of an exhibition of young Russian artists, members of the International academy of mobile art in Baku on May 9.

Opening the ceremony, Executive Director of the Center of Contemporary Art Khayyam Abdinov expressed confidence that the exhibition would be of great interest.

In turn, Tatyana Shumova, Russian honored arts worker, Director of the department for international programmes, also voiced hope that the exhibition will contribute to further development of humanitarian ties between the two countries.

Leyla Aliyeva and guests viewed the exhibition organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Russian ministries of Foreign Affairs and Culture, the Russian Cultural Foundation and International Programs Directorate.

The two-week exhibition demonstrates 64 works by eight young painters of the International academy of mobile art. Project participants came to Baku on May 2 and all the exhibited works were created in 5-6 days.

The young artists' works depict Baku Boulevard, Icharishahar, and historical monuments, the National Flag Square, the Heydar Aliyev Center and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

The works, created on canvas and carton with oil paintings, attract with their colorfulness and freshness.

Moreover, the exhibition presents paintings by a member of the Russian Artists Union, Russian Honored Art Worker Alexander Pokrovsky.

Pokrovsky said it is his first visit to Baku. "Speaking frankly, I fell in love with your city. It has its own atmosphere and rich culture."

The Academy of Mobile Art is a long-term innovative educational project, which envisages implementing a complex of measures to increase the young generation's interest to culture and art and to discover creative ability of a person. .
