Another Azerbaijani cultural event held in France

The Azerbaijan State Folk Instrumental Ensemble has performed in the French city of Mulhouse as part of the Days of Azerbaijan, held under the "Cultural values of Azerbaijan, the pearl of the Caucasus" project.

Speaking prior to the concert, Mulhouse Mayor Jean Rottner regarded Azerbaijan as the leader in the Caucasus region. He stressed the importance of cultural events in bringing the Azerbaijani and French people closer to each other.

Rottner praised Azerbaijani mugham (national folk music), noting that it was recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

President of the Agglomeration community of Mulhouse Sud Alsace, Senator Jean-Marie Bockel thanked Azerbaijani First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, for organizing the concert. He also praised the relations between France and Azerbaijan.

Bockel emphasized that Azerbaijan was a full-fledged member of the Council of Europe, calling the country one of the most active members of the organization.

He said Azerbaijan has rich cultural values, emphasizing the country`s contribution to the development of world culture.

Azerbaijani Ambassador Elchin Amirbayov said the Days of Azerbaijan have been held in many French cities under the "Cultural values of Azerbaijan, the pearl of the Caucasus" project, implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and supported by the Embassy.

Amirbayov said Azerbaijan had rich culture, adding that the country played the role of a bridge between the East and the West.

The ambassador said people of different cultures, ethnic groups and religions have co-existed in peace and harmony in Azerbaijan for centuries.

The concert featured performance of Azerbaijani folk music and works by Azerbaijani composers and was joined by Mulhouse officials, public representatives as well as Azerbaijani diaspora members.

Local residents praised the concert, saying it helped them discover the abundant culture and music of Azerbaijan.

Numerous other events have been held as part of the Days of Azerbaijan in other French cities, including exhibitions in Romorantin-Lanthenay and Niort cities, as well as cultural events in Italy.
