A lecture on the theme “World of Art by Geyisar Kashiyeva” has been held in the National Museum of History.

The event timed to the 125th anniversary of national artist Geyisar Kashiyeva was organized by Russian Information and Cultural Center within the project "Talks about art", Trend Life reported.

The lecturer was the employee of the National Museum of History Fuad Agayev. The grandson of Geyisar Kashiyeva, professor of the history department of the National Academy of Public Administration, scientist Fuad Mammadov shared his memories about the artist.

Kashiyeva painted portraits, landscapes in the style of realism. Her illustrations were published in the satirical magazine "Molla Nasreddin" and the women's magazine "Sherg gadini."

Some of Kashiyeva's preserved works are kept in the National Art Museum of Azerbaijan. The National Museum of History stores some of Kashiyeva's personal belongings and sketches of drawings.

At an early stage of her work, the artist composed posters and posters for the activities of the Tiflis Women's Charitable Society. In 1905-1915, she created numerous portraits, drawings and landscapes, working with watercolors, black ink, pencil and charcoal.

The works of this period include such paintings as "The Portrait of I. Goncharov" (1909), "The Muslim Intelligent" (1912), "Lake Shore" (1914), "Baba Yaga" (1915), etc.

Special attention is paid to artist's works created after 1918. Among them are such paintings as "The Noble Woman", "The Old Watchman", "Georgian Girl", "Hunter", "Fireman", "Portrait of Gogol", etc.
