An evening dedicated to the 70th jubilee and the 55th anniversary of the creative activity of the People's Artist of Azerbaijan tar player Fikrat Verdiyev was held in Baku.

The gala concert taken place in the International Mugham Center on November 19, was opened by the performance of the 2nd and 3rd parts of Haji Khanmamedov`s Concert № 2 by tar player Fikrat Verdiyev. The musician was accompanied by the Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra named after Gara Garayev, conducted by the artistic director, Teymur Goychayev.

During the event, People's Artist of Azerbaijan Nazakat Teymurova, honored artists Tunzala Aghayeva, Almaz Orujova, Ilkin Akhmadov, Sevinj Sariyeva, Babek Niftaliyev and Ehtiram Huseynov, Honored Artist of Culture ashug Ahliman, singers Kamil Nabiyev, Eldaniz Mammadov, Vugar Abdulov, ensemble "Rast" (art director - Khanlar Jafarov) and others performed at the concert. The hosts of the evening were Honored Art Worker Khafiz Guliyev.

A congratulatory speech was delivered by MP, writer-publicist Agil Abbas, as well as people's artist, famous tar player Ramiz Guliyev, who told the public about Fikrat Verdiyev's creative activity.

Verdiyev is the creator of the legendary ensemble "Goygol" (1969). The ensemble included such well-known singers as Shovket Alakbarova, Zeynab Khanlarova, Rubaba Muradova, Nazaket Teymurova, Flora Kerimova, Ilham Guliyev, Nisa Gasimova, Sakin Ismayilov, Kamal Rahimli, Arif Babayev, Islam Rzayev, Janali Akbarov, Mammadbagir Bagirzade, Elmira Rahimova, Baba Mahmudoglu and others.

In 1977, the ensemble was awarded the status of the State Song and Dance Ensemble. In 1990, on the basis of the ensemble "Goygol" Fikrat Verdiyev created

Further, the Ganja State Philharmonic was created on the basis on the ensemble.

In 2001, Fikrat Verdiyev founded the Neftchi Song and Dance Ensemble at the Baku Oil Refinery, which included Konul Hasiyeva, Aygun Bayramova, Rovshan Behdzhati, Samir Jafarov, Feyruz Saxavet, Sabir Abdullayev, Teyyub Aslan and others performed.

Today, Fikrat Verdiyev is the artistic director of the Ganja State Philharmonic.
