A gala concert in Baku gave a start to the Italian Language Week.

The opening ceremony took place at the International Mugham Center on October 16.

The event is held by the Embassies of Italy and Switzerland in Azerbaijan with the support of the Italy-Azerbaijan Association and the International Mugham Center, Trend Life reported.

Italian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Augusto Massari opening the event stressed that the Italian Language Week is held all over the world for the 17th time with the support of the Italian Foreign Ministry and under the patronage of the president of this country.

Every year the diplomatic and cultural network of the Foreign Ministry and International Cooperation of Italy organizes a series of events in the third week of October.

The central theme for 2017 is “Italian at the Cinema, Italian in the Cinema".

A series of concerts themed "35mm film and music", master classes by the famous Italian director and screenwriter Francesco Bruni awaits guests of the festival.

Further, guests enjoyed a fascinating concert program, featuring romantic works by Ennio Morricone, Henry Mancini and Nino Rota, fragments of films from the films "La Vita e bella", "La Strada, Amici Miei", "Nuovo Cinema Paradiso", "Mediterraneo", "Un maledetto imbroglio" , "Giu la of Sergio Leone".

Italian movies occupy a special place in the world cinema and have their admirers around the world, including in Azerbaijan. Italians are able not only to talk beautifully about love, but also to make romantic movies, where the main characters say the most heartfelt words.

Works from the famous Italian films were represented by a string quartet by Stefano Muscaritolo and Kamalay Alizade.

Azerbaijani musicians Farida Mammadova (soprano), Sabina Asadova (mezzo-soprano), Siruz Mamedov (trumpet), Elina Aliyeva, Samir Asadov (violin), Anar Aliyev (viola), Eyyub Aliyev (cello), Gunel Kazimova (piano) mesmerizes the audience with brilliant performance.

The events will end on October 23.
