Firangiz Alizade to join music festival in France

France’s Giverny will host a music festival dedicated to the “Silk Way”.

The festival aims to revive the science and knowledge that contributed to the evolution of the countries located on the Great Silk Way.

Azerbaijani composer Firangiz Alizade will compose a new music for the festival, Report.az said.

Firangiz Alizade will present a number of works and the long-awaited new music at the event scheduled for August 17-27.

Outstanding pianist Jean-Claude Vanden (Belgium), famous violinist Michel Stross (France), Nikita Boriso-Glebski (Russia) and legendary singer Charon Coste (of French-Canadian origin) musicians will perform works of the Azerbaijani composer.

Frangiz Alizade is an Azerbaijani composer and pianist, currently living in Germany. She is best known for her works which combine the musical tradition of the Azerbaijani Mugam and 20th century Western composition techniques, especially those of Arnold Schonberg and Gara Garayev.

Her works have been performed at festivals in Stockholm, Warsaw, London, Heidelberg, Amsterdam, New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Frankfurt, Berlin, Zurich, Bonn and Cologne.
