Days of Hungary kicked off in Baku with the organization of the Hungarian embassy in the country.

The Days started with the presentation of the book "The Tragedy of Man" by Imre Madach.

The event was organized at the Library of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences on March 16, Trend Life reported.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's spouse Aniko Levai attended the event.

Hungarian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Imre Laslotski, addressing the event, noted that the Days are being held on the eve of the ancient holiday of Azerbaijani people – Novruz. The diplomat stressed that the Days of Hungarian culture in Baku will contribute to the festive mood of Bakuians.

ANAS Vice-President Isa Habibbayli, in turn, noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary have historical roots, while the two nations have always treated each other with respect and love.

He said that Azerbaijani scientists have always studied with great interest the works of Hungarian authors, adding that the presentation of Madach’s book is a proof of that.

He added that the book was translated into Azerbaijani language by Rasim Muzaffarli, while editor is Hungarian specialist Maria Keneshi, who studied at Baku State University.

During the Days, Parallels in Hungarian-Azerbaijani music will be discussed by professor Janos Sipos at the International Mugham Center, following the concert of Hungarian musicians and dancers scheduled for March 16.

A fashion show will be held in Boulevard Hotel Baku. Here, guests will also be able to enjoy delicious Hungarian cuisine.

The next day, seminars dedicated to turcologists Bekir Sıtkı Çobanzâde and György Hazai, discussion of “Woven in Hungary” - A look at the contemporary Hungarian art of textile gobelin will be held.

The events will end with exhibition of Ferenc Eisenhut’s paintings and a concert of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble.

Minister of Culture Péter Hoppá and Deputy Foreign Minister Zsolt Chutora will arrive in Baku to attend the Days.

The officials will also meet with Azerbaijani counterparts to discuss the prospects of the bilateral cooperation.
