Azerbaijani artist turns trash into art [PHOTO]

Art can be expressed in many ways. This is a diverse range of human activities in creating visual, auditory or performing artifacts, artworks, expressing the author's imaginative or technical skill, intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power.
The 21st century saw the flourishing of many art forms, including recycled art, which can literary turn trash into gold. Some artists create straight from the garbage can, using discarded items to construct beautiful, sustainable works of art.
One of such artists is a 68-year-old retired high school teacher from Azerbaijan’s Jalilabad region.
Yusif Aliyev , who used to thought his students to think outside of the box, creates masterpieces from things that what we usually throw away: cans, door handles and much more.
"I worked as an English language teacher in high school. After I retired, I have more time for art. In my childhood, I had seen how my grandfather made wooden toys. s. His main profession was in a completely different area. The wood carving was his hobby,” Aliyev says.
Besides trash, Aliyev also uses seeds of plants such as coriander, onion, hives elm, and seeds of melons.
“The best moment is when I finish a piece, especially when it was hard to do,” the artist says.
His most favorite works are the portrait of a beautiful girl ‘Fitne’, the portrait dedicated to Nizami Ganjavi's "Seven beauties" and the one depicting a scene from the epos " Asli and Karam".
The artist's works are displayed at Jalilabad National Gallery.
