Turkish Film Week kicks off in Baku [PHOTO]

A solemn opening of the "Turkish Film Week" took place in Baku on November 22 with participation of famous Turkish film stars.
Organized by the Yerli Dushunce society, the Institute of Yunus Emre and with the support of the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry the Week will last until November 27.
Within the festival Baku’s residents and guests will have a chance to watch films by Turkish filmmakers, who have been awarded, recognized and received multiple awards in the international arena.
Turkish President’s Chief Adviser Yalcin Topcu, addressing the
event, said that film is the most influential tool for building
relationship in modern world.
"We intend to present Turkish films not only in Azerbaijan, but
also in whole Turkic world. At the same time, films of other Turkic
countries should also be presented in different countries," he
said.
Turkish Ambassador to Baku Erkan Ozoral, in turn, noted that Turkey and Azerbaijan are fraternal countries, adding that over the past 25 years, Azerbaijan and Turkey have a chance to better know each other and find a common language.
The diplomat stressed that to deepen the historic ties the two countries need to further strengthen cultural ties.
"At this festival you will have another opportunity to get acquainted with Turkish films," he said.
The "Cold Kalandar" film shot by Mustafa Kara opened the Week.
Turkish actors such as Meral Konrat, Sarp Levendoglu and Emre Kizilirmak were among the guests of the event.
Speaking about their impressions about the city and event,
actors Sarp Levendoglu and Emre Kızılırmak said they are very
pleased to visit Azerbaijan.
"Of course, we have heard about the beauty of Baku, and glad to
have an opportunity to personally come and see the city firsthand.
This is our first visit, so we want as much as possible to learn
about the city, see the sights and visit the memorial sites," said
the actors.
Actress Meral Konrat, who has an army of Azerbaijani fans, underlined that the Film Week will feature some very interesting films.
"I really hope that the Baku audience will like the films to be demonstrated in the framework of the Turkish Film Week," she said.
