Baku awaits for 30 luxury trains for BTK - VIDEO

This year, Azerbaijan will receive 30 comfortable passenger trains for operation on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
The new luxury trains have many advantages including high speed internet access, high-quality service, comfortable beds and restaurant.
The cars are manufactured in four categories, including standard, comfort, business and restaurant. Depending on the category of trains they will be designed for 10, 20 and 32 places.
As soon as the BTK railway launched, which is scheduled for late 2016, some of these comfortable trains ordered from the Swiss Stadler Rail Group will be delivered to Azerbaijan. The first 10 trains will arrive in the country in August 2016.
The BTK railway, being constructed on the basis of a Georgian-Azerbaijani-Turkish intergovernmental agreement has great importance for the region.
Playing a significant role in the revival of the historical Silk Road, the corridor will enable expansion of the relations from Europe to the Anatolia, Central Asia and the Far East.
The peak capacity of the corridor will be 17 million tons of cargo per year. At the initial stage, this figure will be equal to one million passengers and 6.5 million tons of cargo.
The State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) is
financing the project allocating two loans totaling $775 million
for the construction of the Georgian section.
The rail ticket fare moving from Baku to Istanbul will be
determined by Tariff Council of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Russia.
