Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the project "Be ready for export."

The project aims to inform small- and medium-sized businesses about export and enhance their practical and theoretical knowledge in this area.

Experts note a huge potential for deepening of relations in the field of innovation, transport, logistics and other sectors between Azerbaijan and Germany.

Under the signed documents, there will be organized workshops with the participation of local and foreign experts on such themes as certification of export, labeling, customs procedures and market research.

“This project is important from the point of view of educating small entrepreneurs, supporting their access to foreign markets and promoting non-oil exports,” AZPROMO reported.

AZPROMO is a joint Public Private Initiative, established in 2003, aimed to increase non-oil FDI inflow in Azerbaijan as well as to stimulate strengthening and expansion of the country’s non-oil export capacities. The organization plays a role of a single body guiding foreign investors in their negotiations with all relevant Government agencies and local entrepreneurs.

GIZ supports the German Government in achieving the objectives of international cooperation for the further sustainable development, taking an active part in international educational activities.

Last year, the trade between Azerbaijan and Germany amounted to $ 2.6 billion, and within 8 months of the year - to $1.5 billion. Germany also invested $475 million in Azerbaijan, $345 million of which fall on the non-oil sector.
