The government proposes to amend the rules for the issuance of building permits.

Azerbaijan’s Parliament will discuss the amendments on April 28.

Under the amendments, the relevant executive authority considers to grant construction permit to application within a month of their submission. In case of a failure to submit a detailed plan, a decision will require a timeframe of three months.

For the construction of residential buildings or production facilities which will have no more than two floors (each floor with three meters), a total area of no more than 1,400 square meters and a construction area of 1,000 square meters, applicants should only present a project’s architectural plan.

Currently, those who want to construct residential buildings, which have no more than three floors and no more than 12 meters height should submit only an architectural plan.

According to the State Statistics Committee, in February 2015, some 141,700 square meters of housing were commissioned, while in 2014 the figure stood at 102,400.

From the beginning of the year a total of 262,900 square meters of housing were commissioned - 18 percent more than in 2014.
