More Egyptians see Azerbaijan as their new tourist destination.

The number of Egyptian tourists who are willing to choose new countries including Azerbaijan for vacations has significantly increased.

To discuss cooperation on this issue, Sameh Saad, Adviser to the Tourism Minister of Egypt has arrived in Baku.

"Direct flights should be established between Azerbaijan and Egypt. At present, this issue is top on the agenda of Tourism Ministries of the two countries," Saad said.

The Egyptian company EgAz Tours put the initiative to open a direct flight between the two countries at the end of 2014. This company will receive Azerbaijani tourists in Sharm el-Sheikh. The initiative was supported by the Ministries of the two countries.

Plans to open a flight and provision services to tourists from Azerbaijan were discussed at the meeting of representatives of the two Ministries in last August in Egypt. The current visit is aimed to continue the negotiations.

"Egypt is also interested in attracting Azerbaijani tourists. According to statistics, every year millions of Azerbaijani tourists rest abroad, and this, of course is attractive for our travel companies. Therefore, the Egyptian side intends to take advantage of this potential," said Saad.

The company EgAz Tours, which plans to take Azerbaijani tourists to the Sinai Peninsula at affordable prices, is ready to offer the tourists 15 of its best hotels, including the world-famous deluxe hotels and budget hotels.

Azerbaijan, with its beautiful nature and the ancient history is also attracting Egyptian tourists, he said adding that holding the inaugural European Games in Baku made the country more attractive.

Opening a direct flight from Baku to Sharm el-Sheikh will eliminate all related inconveniences, the Azerbaijani Tourism Ministry reported.

Saad said it may also contribute to the expansion of economic ties between the peninsula and Azerbaijan.

Talking about safety issues, Saad said, the situation on the peninsula is calm and under the control of law enforcement. The safety of tourists is provided, he added.

Sinai and particularly Sharm el-Sheikh are the main tourist centers of the world.

Azerbaijan with nine of the eleven climate zones in the region and its rich traditions has taken great strides in promoting its culture and tourism in the world in recent years. Over two million tourists visited the country in 2014.
