Azerbaijan Airlines, Azerbaijan's biggest airline and national flag carrier, said flights to Spain are prospective routes for the company.
AZAL spokesman Maharram Safarli made the remark while commenting
on reports about direct air link between Azerbaijan and Spain.
“Azerbaijan Airlines is constantly increasing number of its
flights. The new aircraft bought in recent years, allow us to carry
out long-haul flights. In this regard, flights to Spain are
prospective routes of Azerbaijan Airlines. But it is early to speak
about the flights in this direction.” Safarli said.
Earlier in November, Spanish Vueling Company's Manager on
International Sales Jesus Blanco said that the company is going to
open regular seasonal flights Barcelona-Baku- Barcelona in the
summer of next year.
He noted that the company opens air services mainly in summer season, which will run into parts of the autumn season. In connection with the market’s need, flights may be conducted during the year with periodicity.
Currently, Azerbaijan Airlines offers its passenger flights to European countries, the CIS, Middle East, Asia and the United States.
AZAL's fleet consists of Boeing 757-200, Boeing 767-300, Airbus 319, Airbus A320, Airbus A340-500, Embraer ERJ 170-100LR and Embraer ERJ 190-100. The company cooperates with about 60 airlines to provide its passengers with an opportunity to travel freely around the world.
