Azerbaijana's Shipping Company expands fleet

Azerbaijan's Caspian Sea Shipping Company has bought new towing-supply as well as dry cargo vessels, the company reported.

The technical characteristics of the towing-supply vessel, built under the supervision of Singapore "Pacc Offshore Services Holding Ltd", enables it to be used for the works stipulated in the major offshore oil and gas projects in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea.

In particular, the vessel, which is expected to be called Lankaran, is able to work within the framework of such major projects as the second phase of the development of gas condensate field Shah Deniz, the first phase of the development of gas condensate field Absheron, exploration and development of prospective block Shafag-Asiman.

The dead weight of the dry cargo vessel produced in Russia is 5,490 tons. The ship's is 108.3 meters long and 16.5 meters wide. To be named after the famous Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli, the vessel will be shipping in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, as well as in the other pools.

Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company was established by a presidential decree in October 2013. The authorized capital of the company is 383,420,621 manats at the nominal value of each share in one manat.

The company was created to continue institutional reforms in the economy, improve the efficiency of local and international transport in maritime sector, strengthening the competitiveness of the country and transit capacity on the basis of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company and the Caspian Sea Oil Fleet under State Oil Company SOCAR.
