Azerbaijan increases average social assistance

Azerbaijani government has increased more than three times the average of its social assistance for each family over the last eight years.

The average of targeted social assistance paid monthly to each family increased by 3.3 times in 2006 reaching to 100 manat in January 01, 2014, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population reported.

This growth has led to a significant increase in the amount of social assistance paid to low-income families. The average monthly amount of social assistance paid to each family was 44,28 manat in 2006. This amount is currently 133.06 manat.

The targeted state social assistance had been allocated to 128.025 families covering 559.834 members of the family till July 1, 2014.

Some 37.208 of the families are those having three or more children, 11.596 of the internally displaced and 307 families of martyrs.

The number of children under the age of one year in families receiving targeted assistance is 5.805 people. The number of family members under the age of 18 is 276.134 people. The number of family members under the age of 18 with limited health is 6.050 people. The number of family members over the age of 18 with disabilities of 32.789 people.
