Azerbaijan's Economy and Industry Ministry has set new priorities for the coming years.

The priorities were set at an enlarged meeting of the ministry's board meeting.

Board chairman, Economy and Industry Minister Shahin Mustafayev informed the participants on Azerbaijan's achievements in the reported period, as well as the ministry's future goals.

The announcement of 2014 as the Industry Year shows the high attention and significance attached to this sector, as well as the onset of a qualitatively new stage in the industrialization in Azerbaijan.

Earlier at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the results of socioeconomic development in the first half of 2014 and objectives of the future, President Ilham Aliyev gave instructions for further development of the industry, including the creation of industrial clusters, as well as directing investments to the growth of industrial production and the continuation of works on creation of technological parks.

Mustafayev gave specific instructions to the Ministry's departments on the quality and timely implementation of the tasks assigned by the president.

The board meeting also made a decision to develop an action plan for execution of these tasks.

Also, the board meeting discussed ways of implementing tasks assigned by two presidential decrees. The first one was the decree 'on adopting additional measures to develop agriculture and food market' and the second one, the decree 'on adopting measures to improve governance and accelerate institutional reforms in agrarian sector'.
