Baku round of Worldwide Startup Competition held with support of Azercell

The Baku round of the Worldwide Startup Competition took place with the organizational support of Barama Innovation Center, Swiss Company Seedstars and ADA University on April 18, Azercell reported on April 22.

The event brought together local companies, startups and project owners that shared ideas and exchanged opinions on the future plans. Young startup team with "ManADS" project for mobile advertisement application became the winner of Baku round.

The winning team got an opportunity to join the Grand Final in Geneva, Switzerland.

Some 600 companies from more than 30 cities of the world were involved in the competition, according to the estimates. This competition is intended for projects and companies with more than two years of operation and a profit margin up to $500,000.

We also would like to inform that only within first four months of 2014 Azercell's Barama Innovation Center has managed to organize a Summer Camp, training course for Oracle users and a workshop for Linux users. The main goal of these events is bringing together different people, interested in this field, facilitate opinion, and experience exchange between them.

Along with the Barama Innovation Center projects, Azercell also extends its support to young generation through range of other programs. The Student Bursary Program initiated by the company offers scholarships to talented and skillful university students, given the fact that education is one of the main directions of Social Investment Projects of Azercell. Total Social Investment of Azercell for the year of 2013 has made 0.4 million manat, and a total of 14 million manat for 17 years of operation in the country. Azercell is collaborating with the leading universities of the country and further supports the strengthening of their material and technical capacities. An example of such a partnership is, among other, the initiative of Azercell to install and operate its first 4G Lab at Gafgaz University and Nakhchivan State University. Azercell will further continue its support projects aimed for development and career growth of talented youth.

By the end of 2013 the number of Azercell's subscribers reached 4.5 million people. In 2011 Azercell deployed 3G and in 2012 - 4G networks in Azerbaijan.
