The American global coffee company and coffeehouse chain "Starbucks" will open its chain in Baku by late 2014, a source in the country's retail market told Trend Agency on April 21.

"I can say the negotiations on bringing the brand to the country have been successfully completed," the source said. "I'm sure that "Starbucks" coffeehouses will open in the city this year."

The source said that it will open several coffeehouses in different parts of Baku, refusing to name their future location and other details, citing trade secrets.

Starbucks Corporation is the largest coffeehouse company in the world, with 20,891 stores in 64 countries, including 13,279 in the United States, 1,324 in Canada, 989 in Japan, 851 in China, 215 in the United Kingdom and 193 in Turkey.

Starbucks locations serve hot and cold beverages, whole-bean coffee, microground instant coffee, full-leaf teas, pastries, and snacks. Most stores also sell pre-packaged food items, hot and cold sandwiches, and items such as mugs and tumblers.
