Senior WB official praises Azerbaijan's economic growth
Azerbaijan demonstrates all the signs of sustained economic growth and has great potential, World Bank vice-president for external affairs Cyril Muller has said.
"I know Baku for many years," he said at the 11th conference of the IMF and WB Parliamentary Network in Baku on May 23. "I was one of the first representatives of the World Bank, who arrived in the country after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Azerbaijan has passed an incredible way of development since gaining independence."
Mueller said that such events allow parliamentarians worldwide to discuss current problems and try to find a way to solve them. These discussions promote economic growth and comprehensive development.
The Conference of the WB and IMF Parliamentary Network is being held in Baku on May 23-24.
The Parliamentary Network is an independent non-governmental organization delivering a platform to more than 1,500 parliamentarians from 140 countries for cooperation to increase transparency and enhance accountability in the development processes in their countries. The objective of the organization is to enhance the role of parliamentarians and civil society.
The non-governmental organization Association for Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan is an organizer of the conference from the Azerbaijani side.
