Azerbaijan is developing a concept to attract investments in ecotourism and agrotourism, the head of the Public Relations Department of the State Agency for Tourism Kenan Guluzade told Trend on October 14.

The possibilities of the tourist market are being carefully studied in connection with this, he said.

Today, the State Agency is developing a program to attract foreign investment in the tourism sector of Azerbaijan. This document is currently under development.

"The ecotourism and agrotourism are new and quite promising directions of tourism. The fact that the ecotourism is gradually becoming popular in our country is natural, since there are all conditions for this, first of all, the unique geography and nature. This direction is very attractive for residents of the country, and for foreigners, and this involves making big investments in the tourism sector," Guluzade said.

Increasing urbanization is actually squeezing people into the bosom of nature. The lack of communication with it is already becoming a stress factor for a modern person. And it is a sin for Azerbaijan to stay away from this global trend, because it posses all the necessary things for the development of ecotourism - a unique and diverse nature, excellent cuisine and developed folk crafts.

Ecotourism is an opportunity to learn something new about the history of your country, your region, to get a lot of new impressions, as well as to cultivate a careful attitude to nature and rest on the ecologically clean expanses of beautiful Azerbaijan.

Guluzade also noted that agro-tourism is another promising direction in this area, its essence is that tourists who come to a region lead a rural way of life, take part in traditional rural work, become familiar with local customs and so on.

"By the way, this type of tourism is very common in a number of European countries, mainly in Italy. Tourism is primarily a business, and everyone, both the population and the state should earn money from this activity. It is an inexhaustible resource that must be constantly developed and converted into perpetual income," Guluzade underlined.
