Export volumes of Kazakh Food Corporation to Azerbaijan disclosed

Kazakhstan’s national company Food Contract Corporation JSC exported 15,000 tons of wheat to Azerbaijan in 2017.
In total, the company exported more than 120,000 tons of grain and oilseeds in the previous year, according to the company.
“As a result of its activities for 2017, the company exported 56,000 tons of barley to Iran, over 40,000 tons of wheat and about 600 tons of vegetable oil to China, 15,000 tons of wheat to Azerbaijan, approximately 5,000 tons of wheat to Uzbekistan, as well as around 3,000 tons of flax seeds to Belgium,” the company reported.
Today, the demand for wheat is about 186 kilograms per year per capita in Azerbaijan, while in total it makes up 1.75 -1.8 million tons per year for the total population of the country. In general, Azerbaijan satisfies its demand for grains by 70-80 percent through domestic production. The remaining demand is met through imports, mainly from Russia and Kazakhstan.
Food Contract Corporation is a national company, representing Kazakhstan on the world market of foodstuff consumption as the export center of the national agro-industrial complex. The company is involved in ensuring the country's food security through the quantitative and qualitative preservation of the reserve stock of food grains.
The State Food Contract Corporation was established by the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 21, 1995.
In 1997, in order to improve the system of procurement of grain and products of its processing into the state resources, the State Food Contract Corporation was reorganized into the Food Contract Corporation Joint-Stock Company with one hundred percent state share in its authorized capital.
In 2006, the ownership and use of shareholdings of the Food Contract Corporation were transferred to the Holding KazAgro JSC. In 2007, Food Contract Corporation was assigned the status of the National Company.
